Property offences encompass a broad range of criminal charges in Canada — from shoplifting and petty theft to large-scale fraud and armed robbery. The severity of penalties depends on the value of the property involved, the circumstances of the offence, and your prior criminal history.
The Crown must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you committed the offence and that you had the requisite mental intent. In many property cases, the evidence is circumstantial, and there are strong defences available — including challenging identification evidence, disproving knowledge or intent, and questioning the chain of custody of physical evidence.
At Batish Law, we approach every property offence case with thoroughness and attention to detail. Whether you are facing a minor shoplifting charge or a complex fraud investigation, we work to protect your record, your reputation, and your future. Our goal is always to achieve the best possible outcome, whether through negotiation, diversion, or trial.

Challenging the valuation of property to reduce charges from over $5,000 to under $5,000
Seeking diversion or alternative measures for first-time offenders
